The spotlight was on leadership, excellence and innovation at last night’s presentation of the 2013 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards, where Alfred Health was recognised in six significant awards.
The results were announced at a gala event attended by the Minister for Health, the Minister for Mental Health and the Secretary of the Department of Health.
One of our ‘Timely Quality Care’ initiatives won the Premier’s award for advancing healthcare –putting patients first. ‘Out of the dark: Timely Quality Care – After Hours Working Group’ was recognised for introducing a new model of care that includes a new team structure and roles, processes to streamline care and centralisation of task management to effectively manage Alfred Health’s resources and staff at night. Antimicrobial Stewardship; Improving the quality of antimicrobial prescribing’ program was awarded ‘Gold’ in the Healthcare Innovation Awards category
Bridging the patient specimen labelling gap using postline patient identification collection’ initiative was awarded ‘Silver’ for optimising healthcare for e-health and communications technology.
The Alfred's Allied Health Assistant Leadership and Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Competency teams were highly commended for the Minister for Health’s award for achieving a highly capable and engaged workforce
Associate Professor Alison Street (AO) received the Health Lifetime Achievement award - the Minister’s highest honour for an individual.
