Steve McGloughlin teaches BASIC in Fiji
BASIC (Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care) is a course which is delivered around the world and is aimed at assisting clinicians in the rapid assessment of seriously ill patients and the implementation of treatment and initial organ support.
In September 2013 BASIC was run in the Fiji in the capital city Suva, at the major hospital - the Colonial War Memorial Hospital. Dr Steve McGloughlin, volunteered as an instructor in this course. The participants included anaesthetic, surgical and emergency trainee doctors as well as intensive care nursing staff. The course was very successful and it hoped that more of this vital training will be provided to the clinical staff in the region.
