The research findings on after-hours discharge from ICU have generated a considerable amount of interest in the lay-press and on social media around the world.
Many after hours discharges are brought about by the pressures of the need to admit urgent cases to an ICU which is already full.

The emphasis is very much on how ANZ ICU results are already good, but this is an area in which we can improve, and that having spare capacity going into the night could allow patients to be admitted without potentially disadvantaging others.
