Alfred ICU team has developed significant experience and expertise in Trauma ICU, which has lead to world-class research.
The Alfred ICU is closely linked with the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC) and the National Trauma Research Institute (NTRI).
Trauma Special Interest Group
The Trauma Special Interest Group (S.I.G) at the Alfred provides support and guidance to any staff involved in providing care for the trauma population admitted to ICU. The aim of this group is to review currant practice and guidelines to ensure that best practice and evidence based care is provided. Research projects, and literature reviews are facilitated in a supportive environment to assist staff with their professional and academic development.
The Trauma S.I.G uses the feedback from staff in ICU to assist in planning and providing focused study days.
The Trauma S.I.G is a multi-disciplinary group of staff that welcomes anyone with an interest in trauma care. To find out more, or to become involved with this S.I.G you can contact Catherine Birch (Trauma Registry Nurse), or Jason Watterson (Clinical Educator – ICU) via Alfred Hospital switchboard.
