Kate is acting Level 3 ICU Clinical Nurse Manager at The Alfred. She completed her nursing training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney in 2015 working in a variety of specialties including Trauma Orthopaedics, Emergency and Women’s and Babies.
In 2019, Kate joined The Alfred. In 2020, she commenced a Graduate Diploma specialising in Intensive Care. Working both bedside as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and as an Associate Nurse Manager, she is passionate about supporting clinical staff to implement safe, competent evidence-based practices to maintain a high standard of patient care delivery. When she is not nursing, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and live music.

Stephen has 20-plus years of experience at The Alfred ICU. He has worked as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) and Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM). Since February 2023 Stephen has held the position of Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM).

Catherine is an ICU Clinical Nurse Manager at The Alfred. Catherine did her first year of nursing at The Alfred in the cardiac ward in 2008 before heading up to northern NSW to complete a second-year graduate program in the ICU at Tweed Heads Hospital where she continued to work in the ICU.
Catherine returned to Melbourne in 2011 and started in The Alfred ICU in October 2011. She completed her Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing in 2012 and became an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANM) in ICU in 2015.
Since 2016, she worked as an ANM and as a Patient Access Nurse (PAN) in ICU until May 2023 when she took a secondment with the Clinical Governance Unit as a Clinical Risk Coordinator.
She has learnt so much since then that she is excited to bring her newly acquired knowledge and experience back to the ICU clinical space.
She is a Mum of 2 little kids. She enjoys camping, bush walking and running when she is not at work.

Yasmin is the Clinical Nurse Manager for Team C at The Alfred ICU. She has been at The Alfred for 26 years and in ICU for 23 years. Throughout her tenure, she has held various roles, including Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Nurse Educator, Associate Nurse Manager and Clinical Nurse consultant.
She has special interests in the field of Complex Trauma and Neurosurgery. In addition to her clinical role, Yasmin is dedicated to ensuring staff support and well-being within the ICU.

Brionhy is a dedicated professional with over two decades of experience at The Alfred. She is currently working as a Clinical Nurse Manager in Pod A. Her journey began in 1999 during her Graduate year, where she spent just over three years on a surgical ward.
In January 2003, she transitioned to Alfred ICU and concurrently pursued her Post Graduate Diploma in Critical Care, which she commenced in February of the same year.
Over the past 20 years, Brionhy has taken on various roles within the unit, showcasing her versatility and commitment to critical care.
Her roles have included Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), MET responder, and, since 2018, Assistant Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM).
Brionhy's journey at the Alfred has been marked by significant contributions, including covering the Pod A CNM role and actively participating in the accreditation process. Through these experiences, she discovered a passion for supporting the workforce and engaging in Quality projects that have a positive impact on the broader unit.
Currently serving as the Pod A CNM, Brionhy eagerly anticipates the next 20 years in ICU, confident in her ability to make a lasting difference through her dedication to excellence and ongoing commitment to the field of critical care.

Catherine is a Clinical Nurse Consultant at The Alfred ICU. She has completed her Master of Critical Care Nursing. Her interests include the care and management of trauma and neurosurgical patients in intensive care.
Catherine is involved in postgraduate education delivery and research activities related to these patients' cohorts. She is member of the Alfred Trauma Committee, and is a Senior Coordinator of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS/EMST) courses at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Darrel is currently working as an ECLS Clinical Nurse Consultant at The Alfred where he has worked for over 20 years in many clinical and leadership positions. These include working as a Critical Care Registered Nurse, and Associate Nurse Unit Manager in Trauma ICU.
He also worked as Associate Nurse Unit Manager in Cardiac, Clinical Nurse Educator, ICU Liaison Nurse, and Patient Access Nurse. He has facilitated numerous ECMO education courses, providing ongoing clinical support and assessments to nursing staff. He also worked as a Donation Specialist Nursing Coordinator and co-authored a clinical research paper, which was published in the Critical Care Resuscitation 2011. He is an active member of the ECLS retrieval team.

Kate completed her Bachelor of Science at Victoria University and went on to study at LaTrobe University where she completed her Graduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing in 1998. She joined The Alfred in 1994 and was appointed as a Clinical Educator in 2012.
She has broad experience in Intensive Care assisting patients with medical, surgical, trauma and cardiac illnesses. Kate manages a busy schedule as a nurse and continues to deliver education days at The Alfred.

Georgia is a Clinical Nurse Consultant in Central Venous Access Devices in The Alfred ICU. She completed her graduate training in Brisbane, before moving to The Alfred as a Critical Care Registered Nurse. Georgia commenced in her role as Clinical Nurse Consultant in 2020.
Georgia’s interest in venous access stretches way back to her graduate year. Georgia was part of a nurse-led venous access team and she saw how important compassionate, evidence-based vascular access care was for her patients.

Padraig has worked at The Alfred since 2010 across a number of nursing leadership roles. He has been involved in ECMO care since 2013 and is a current member of the ECLS Clinical Nurse Consultant team supporting staff to care for this complex cohort.
He is an avid but rarely very successful gardener with often able digging assistance from his golden retriever "Lottie". His ongoing areas of interest include staff clinical support, risk mitigation systems, translational SIM, clinical communication and emergency response team management.

Richard Lim is currently the ICU Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) for both the Central Venous Accesses (CVADs) and Intra-Hospital Transports (IHT) after completing rigorous intensive training in 2017 and 2018 respectively under the auspices of ICU medical consultants.
He is responsible for inserting, advising on, and monitoring CVADs and arterial devices. He is the first in Australia to be fully accredited to transport critically-ill intubated ICU patients for diagnostic and interventional procedures, without other medical escort.
Additionally, in the last 5 years, he has been teaching, supervising, and accrediting medical doctors in CVAD & IHT. He is the first CNC in Victoria, and possibly for the whole of Australia, to perform such critical tasks. He implemented standardised and systematic teaching of medical doctors thus enhancing procedural safety and quality excellence.
Prior to the CVAD/IHT role, Richard held several roles in the Alfred ICU, from Liasion to PAN and from Burns Resource to ANUM. He has conducted several successful trials, some of which have become protocols. Richard worked in several countries, including involvement as a senior clinical manager with the ICU/ED units of a newly built tertiary hospital in Singapore. He was selected to be part of the Australian government’s regional health initiatives to teach trauma resuscitation in 2011-2012.
Mel is a Clinical Nurse Consultant at The Alfred. She works in the Intensive Care Unit and is responsible for providing expert clinical care to critically ill patients. Mel has been working at The Alfred Hospital for several years and has gained extensive experience in her field.

Laura is an ECLS Clinical Nurse Consultant at The Alfred. She has 10 years Intensive Care experience in the UK and Australia and an additional 5 years ECLS experience. Over the years, she has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist, a Clinical Associate Nurse Manager, and an Equipment Nurse Manager.
Laura gained her nursing registration and critical care post-graduate qualifications at the University of Wolverhampton & University of Greenwich, London Laura has facilitated numerous ECMO education courses and is involved in ECMO patient retrieval. Laura has a keen interest in paediatric transplantation & ventricular assist devices.

Jayne is an ECLS Clinical Nurse Consultant at The Alfred. She has a Master Degree in Education and SIM education. Jayne is an advanced clinical practitioner who collaborates with the healthcare team for ongoing therapies.
This includes extracorporeal life support (ECLS), ventricular assist devices (VAD), complex cardiac management and paediatric lung transplantation. Jayne is an invited member of the Strategic Advisory Council. She works with Extracorporeal Life Support Organisation (ELSO), to plan ECMO service/education worldwide. Jayne is a member of the ECMO Education Workforce with the Extracorporeal Life Support Organisation (ECMOed), the internationally recognised leader in ECMO. Jayne has contributed chapters in the ELSO “Red Book”.
Jayne has an active role in local education and research. She is an Education Lead for the Victorian ECMO Service (VECMOS) and a member of the VECMOS Education Sub Committee. Jayne is also involved in ECMO research including several multi-centre trials.

Nova is an Infection Prevention Clinical Nurse Consultant at The Alfred ICU. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Notre Dame of Marbel University in The Philippines in 2006. In 2015, Nova undertook a Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care at La Trobe University through The Alfred.
Prior to that, she obtained her Australian nursing registration after completing the Initial Registration for Overseas Nurses in 2011. She spearheaded the night duty sessions in 2018 to provide in-service education to staff on night shifts. She adopted and introduced the SSKIN initiative as part of the Pressure Injury Prevention strategies in ICU. This was then adopted across The Alfred. Her interests include pressure injury prevention, wound management, and infection prevention.

Aisling is the ICU equipment and infrastructure ANM at the Alfred. She has a robust background in cardiothoracic and heart failure care. She began her career with a Certificate in ICU nursing from St James's Hospital and Trinity College Dublin, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate from Monash.
Ailsing's expertise led her to The Alfred in 2018, where she transitioned to the ICU in 2019, obtaining another postgrad certificate. She has been in the role of ICU equipment and infrastructure ANM since 2023.
Aisling's journey is marked by a commitment to continuous learning, excellence in patient care, and contributions to the operational aspects of intensive care.

Elissa is the ICU Nursing Roster ANM at The Alfred ICU. She is responsible for planning and managing the rosters for 500+ nursing staff. Elissa also assists with payroll, leave and variation requirements. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Critical Care Nursing and has worked in numerous roles over the years.

Paul is the Nursing Informatics Lead at The Alfred ICU. Throughout his tenure in the ICU, he has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Associate Nurse Manager, and Clinical Educator. In his capacity as Nursing Informatics Lead, Paul takes on the role of Project Lead for informatics projects within the ICU.
His responsibilities encompass overseeing projects such as Nursing Staff Development databases, the implementation and ongoing development of the Alfred Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system within the ICU, management of the ICU Intranet, coordination of ICU Patient Telehealth & Wellbeing tablets, and serving as the key partner for Alfred Health in Cerner's global Critical Care Dashboard development project. Paul's extensive experience and leadership contribute significantly to advancing informatics initiatives within the ICU at Alfred Health.
