Airway management of the critically ill, particularly in settings outside of the operating theatre is uniquely challenging.
In August, our second Critical Ill Airways (CIA) course at The Alfred Simulation Centre, was supported by highly skilled and experienced faculty. During this intensive two-day event, attendees refined their skills in handling the complexities of airway management.
This included managing challenging airway situations and advancing their techniques such as performing percutaneous tracheostomy, tailored to the specific requirements of critically ill patients. The course seamlessly integrates online pre-course learning materials with engaging ‘hands-on’ practical sessions.
Attendees immersed themselves in twelve different simulation scenarios that span the entire spectrum of airway crises in the critically ill.
